My office is now accepting applications from students interested in serving as an intern in his Lee District office during the upcoming Spring term. This position is perfect for those looking for an insider's perspective into the operations of Fairfax County and working on a team helping to bring long term sustainable change to areas where generational poverty persists. Additionally, establishing an innovative new tech center on the Richmond Highway Corridor and reinvigorated public safety are top priorities for our office.
Job Details
Applicant should demonstrate a solid understanding of Word, Outlook, and powerpoint. Applicant should also be able willing to work with constituents both in person and over the phone. Some understanding of local government and or familiarity with Fairfax County Organization preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Greet and help assist walk-in constituents
· Maintain a filling system for incoming mail and constituent correspondence
· Help answer and transfer calls
· Collect, open, and distribute mail as needed
· Write and help edit documents
· Assist in basic constituent service and casework
· Help plan and setup events such as town halls
· Monitor level of office supplies and for supply ordering
· Attend meetings with staff
· Other responsibilities and projects as assigned
This list does not encompass all that the intern will be asked to do. Training and assistance will always be available; however applicants should be able to preform all listed task adequately.
